Beverly Hills

Populated by many celebrities and popularized by mainstream media.

Welcome to Beverly Hills

What’s it like to live in the 90210?

Populated by many celebrities and popularized by mainstream media, Beverly Hills is one of the most recognizable places to live in the world. It’s a retail epicenter of the U.S. and home to iconic fashion destinations like Rodeo Drive and the Golden Triangle. Between its luxurious homes, gleaming classic cars, constant sun, camera flashes, and shiny surfaces, Beverly Hills is perhaps the closest thing we have to a holographic city.

At the same time, Beverly Hills is not a city — technically, it’s a suburb of Los Angeles, with an area of about six square miles. Because of their elevation, Beverly Hills luxury homes command sweeping views of the surrounding cityscape. There are buzzing neighborhoods and private enclaves within Beverly Hills. Visitors are often pleasantly surprised by the verdant foliage and public green spaces that liven up the streets.

What to Love

  • Uncompromisingly fabulous lifestyle
  • Inimitable shopping scene
  • Proximity to celebrities and Hollywood
  • Rich local history
  • Polished luxury homes

Local Lifestyle

Residents of Beverly Hills, no matter their station or walk in life, praise the suburb for its gorgeous aesthetic. The neighborhood’s access to beauty transcends fashion models, cosmetics brands, and television. There’s grandiosity around seemingly every corner. In your first phase of living in Beverly Hills, you might tour the neighborhoods and scope out their storied landmarks like the Beverly Hills Hotel or the Greystone Mansion.

Once you’ve had your fill, you’ll likely want to settle down and find your niche among so much opulence. Permanent residents of Beverly Hills find the area a small-town haven compared to sprawling Los Angeles. The things people associate with Beverly Hills — movie stars, paparazzi, fashion — are ephemeral and touristy. Events like Woofstock and the farmers market bring substance to the community. Plus, Beverly Hills is surprisingly walkable for a neighborhood of about 35,000 people.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

On any given day, people from all over the world shop in Beverly Hills. It’s a retail destination made iconic by celebrities, brands, and celebrities’ brands. Whether you’re also shopping for Beverly Hills real estate or just in town to visit, you can’t miss out on the Beverly Hills shopping scene. Need jewelry? Go to XIV Karats, the accordion-shaped superstore off Santa Monica Boulevard. For something less permanent, try The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills or Heritage Fine Wines (or both). Better yet, swing by those two stores on your first day out so you have plenty of drinks and snacks. One of the trendiest storefronts belongs to Sandro — a Parisian brand carrying items like bomber jackets and jeans.

For dinner after a long day of shopping, Beverly Hills has plenty of upscale restaurants, too. Mastro’s Steakhouse is a good place to start. It’s situated near many competing restaurants on North Canon Drive, and it’s hard to go wrong at a place like Mastro’s. Even in midday, the deep wood paneling, dim lighting, and live music will transport you to another era. Beyond Mastro’s, Beverly Hills is a kaleidoscope of high-end restaurants, with local favorites serving modern Vietnamese, authentic Greek, Italian, and French cuisine.

Things to Do

Want to enjoy Beverly Hills like a local? Around the neighborhood, there is plenty for residents to do throughout the entire year. The Golden Triangle (downtown Beverly Hills) is the commercial center of the suburb. Besides expensive boutiques and specialty shops, you also can find most of your necessities downtown. Most people drive, but you might be able to walk errands depending on where you live.

If you’re a city resident, you can bring your dog to a leashless dog park near downtown. And if real estate or architecture happens to be one of your hobbies, you’ll find no shortage of stylistic eye candy in Beverly Hills (although some of the most grand estates are shielded from the public by long driveways and gates).
